Product Introduction

One-stop shoe material Factory in China
Introducing Our PU leather for shoes is a polyurethane-coated synthetic material engineered for footwear upper and lining applications, manufactured via transfer coating or wet/dry coagulation processes onto non-woven or knitted backing substrates. Available in thicknesses from 0.6mm to 2.2mm with roll widths of 1.37m or 1.4m, the material delivers tensile and tear strength exceeding genuine leather while achieving 30% weight reduction. Solamni supplies this PU leather with full color customization, embossed grain patterns (lychee, DE-7, snake, vintage), waterproof and abrasion-resistant surface treatment, REACH/RoHS compliance, and MOQ from 500 meters.

Quality Control & Testing Standards
Solamni manufactures PU leather for shoes on precision calender and transfer coating lines with closed-loop thickness control. Each production batch undergoes the following validation protocols:
Thickness is measured at 10 points per linear meter using a digital micrometer (precision ±0.01mm). Batch acceptance requires ≥98% of readings within specified tolerance (±0.05mm). Surface finish (embossed grain, printed pattern, or smooth) is verified against master sample plates under D65 standard lighting (5000K). Roll width is confirmed with electronic edge-guide sensors; roll length is verified via electronic length-measuring machines to ±0.5m accuracy per 100m.
Peeling Strength: A universal tensile tester (UTM) measures coating-to-backing adhesion per ISO 2411 at 200 mm/min crosshead speed. Minimum acceptance: 35 N/3cm.
Tensile & Tear Strength: UTM pulls samples at 200mm/min per ASTM D5035 and ASTM D2261. Minimum acceptance: tensile ≥15 MPa, tear ≥20 N/mm.
Abrasion Resistance: Martindale tester runs 50,000 cycles under 12 kPa pressure. Surface coating must show no substrate exposure or visible pitting.
Flex Fatigue: Bally flexometer performs 50,000 cycles at ambient temperature and 15,000 cycles at -10°C. Zero delamination or cracking required.
Accelerated hydrolysis testing per ISO 1419 (70°C / 95% RH) validates ≥3-year resistance for tropical-climate footwear applications. Low-temperature performance is verified at -20°C with zero embrittlement or adhesion loss.
All PU resins are screened for phthalates (≤0.1% per REACH Annex XVII), heavy metals (Pb ≤90ppm, Cd ≤10ppm), and formaldehyde (≤75mg/kg). Solvent-free water-based PU formulation meets OEKO-TEX, REACH, and RoHS eco-certifications.
Each master roll receives a laser-etched batch number linking to production date, coating line ID, PU resin lot numbers, backing fabric batch ID, and QC test results. Retained samples (A4-size cutouts) are archived for 36 months in climate-controlled storage (23°C ±2°C, 50% ±5% RH). Digital Certificate of Analysis issued within 48 hours of production.
PU leather for shoes is supplied to footwear OEMs and component manufacturers globally.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

01.What thickness of PU leather is recommended for sports shoe uppers, and how does it affect cutting yield?
0.6–1.0mm for lightweight sports shoes; 1.0–1.4mm for casual and safety footwear. Thinner gauges (0.6–0.8mm) yield approximately 5–8% higher cut utilization for complex upper patterns due to reduced edge curl and improved die-cutting precision. We recommend trials with your specific cutting dies.
02.Can you match Pantone colors for PU leather, and what is the lead time for custom colors?
Yes. Solamni accepts Pantone references or physical swatches for color matching. Standard lead time: 7–10 business days for lab dip development. Bulk production: 15–20 business days after color approval. Color spectrophotometer report (ΔE <1.0) provided with each shipment.
03.What is the MOQ and lead time for a production run of PU leather for shoe uppers?
Standard MOQ: 500 meters per thickness/color. Sample rolls (50 meters) available for process validation. Bulk production: 12–18 business days after sample approval. Custom embossing patterns require 3–5 business days additional for roller preparation.
